Brett Hawkins, 36, passed away at home on April 8th, 2016. Brett was born on October 24th, 1979 in Kansas City, MO. After 15 years of courageously fighting the life & health challenges of alcoholism, he is now free of this disease. He was a graduate of Olathe East High School and pursued a degree in hotel & restaurant management at Kansas State University.
Brett’s greatest sources of joy were his friends & family, 810 talk radio, Royals baseball, K-State sports, Sporting KC, Cooking & all things argyle.
Brett is survived by his mother Pam Gough & stepdad Dan Gough, his father Steve Hawkins, sister Erin Brockus (Johnny) and two nephews Wally & Wilson Brockus, Fiancé Lindsay Jones, Aunts Diana Wilmoth & Ann Wilmoth, Uncle Bob (Nancy) Hawkins, Grandfathers Gene Wilmoth & Robert Hawkins Sr. Proceeded in death by grandparents Betty Wilmoth, Anne Hawkins & Uncle Mike Hawkins.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13th followed by 2:00 p.m., service at Johnson County Funeral Chapel 11200 Metcalf, O.P., KS 66210.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 East 42nd Street South, Unit 600, Independence, MO 64055.
