Linda Rix

February 6, 1958 — April 1, 2017

Linda Kay (Madden) Rix, 59, returned to the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family.  There will be a Celebration of Life service Saturday, April 22 at 11 AM at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Ave, Prairie Village, Kansas.  The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, April 21, 2017, also at the church.

Linda was born in Fremont, Nebraska on February 6, 1958 to John and Marlene Madden.  Linda attended kindergarten in Charles City Iowa prior to moving to Pella, Iowa.  Linda attended Pella schools, graduating from Pella High School in 1976.  In her youth, Linda was active in 4H, church youth group, sports, and band.  Linda then attended the Marshalltown School of Nursing. Linda used her gifts of caring and compassion to their fullest in her profession.

Linda moved to Kansas City, Kansas after graduation and began her calling as a nurse. She worked at Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, and then at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Throughout her career she worked in the ICU, the dialysis unit, and in Pre-Op.

In 1983 she married Philip Rix.  That union brought two daughters into the world. Jessica in 1987 and Elizabeth in 1990.  Nothing brought more joy to Linda than being a mother and eventually a grandmother. Cooper’s birth in 2010 made “Grammy” very happy and she adored him.
Linda was very active in her church.  She touched the lives of many youth throughout her years of serving as a leader.   Linda was always putting others before herself.  Never was this made clearer, in that, even at the end, by her choice to be an organ and tissue donor.  In her death, others have been given a new lease on life.  Linda also loved her game nights with her many friends.  Linda had a love for life and her laugh will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Linda will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Survivors include daughters Jessica Rix and grandson Cooper of Gladstone, MO and Elizabeth Rix of Overland Park, KS, mother Marlene Madden of Pella, IA, brother John Madden (Bonnie) of Manassas, VA, sisters Nancy Inman (Lee) of Humboldt, IA, Connie Grunder of Ankeny, IA, and Debra Newendorp (David) of Urbandale, IA.   Also mourning her loss are nephews and nieces Alex Inman (T), Marcus Inman, John Madden, Josh Madden, Zachary Grunder, Shelby Grunder, Kobe Grunder, and Kate Newendorp, and two great-nephews.
