Melissa was born on January 8, 1967 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. She attended elementary and secondary school in Spring Hill, Kansas graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1985.  A member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, Melissa graduated from the University of Kansas in 1989 with a degree in Communications. After beginning her professional career in public relations, she quickly found an interest in and aptitude for computers, software and project management.  Most recently, she worked as a senior project manager for Dell/EMC in the Midwest region.  Her patience, attention to detail, professionalism, communication and technical skills made her a valuable asset to her company.

Melissa was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  She was an accomplished equestrian and gifted horse trainer winning several ribbons while showing Arabian horses on the Greater Kansas City Arabian Horse Association (GKCAHA) circuit and the National Arabian show from 1992 through 2010 on her horses Spring Star, Spellcaster and Mick.  She was passionate about her dogs and was devoted to her puppy Knightley and dogs Jack and Valentine who came before him.  Melissa was a talented photographer, an amazing cook, and a compassionate friend.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and participated in a weekly bible study. Her family and friends are heartbroken by her sudden death and will miss her terribly.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday July 24th at 2:00pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel 11200 Metcalf Avenue. There will be a visitation preceding the service from 1:00-2:00pm.
