Patti passed away early Monday morning on November 21, 2016. The celebration for Patti’s life will be held on December 3, 2016 from 5-7PM at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty, Overland Park, KS.
Patti is survived by her mother, Carol Briant; her daughter, Kelly, Kelly’s wife Londa, and their children, Patti’s grandsons, Cameron, Trenton, and Crosby Dean; her Aunt Mimi Ambrosi, other aunts, uncles, and cousins; her boyfriend, Bob Peters; special friend, Renee Oyer; many other friends, and her dog, Tootise.
From the ages of seven to thirteen, Patti played softball as catcher and was the best ever! However, she changed sports to tennis and was coached by Chris Evert’s father.
Patti graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1977 where she lettered in basketball, track, and was #1 in tennis from her freshman through her senior years.
She received a full tennis scholarship to the University of Nebraska where she won the Big 8 Championship as a freshman. It was the first time Big Red won. Patti was ranked 19th nationwide and traveled all over the United States.
Patti was employed by Bally as a professional tennis coach. After her tennis career ended as a result of a fall down a flight of stairs, she worked as a National Credit Manager for AMC, Toby Papers, and Tompkins.
Although Patti suffered, she loved life, her family, and friends. The last entry in her journal was, “I pray that I may choose the right way. I pray I may try to follow it to the end.”
There will never be another Patti!
