Betty Grayson

March 7, 1924 — July 25, 2017

Betty Crouch Grayson, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 25,2017 at Brookdale Overland Park after a brief illness.  She was born March 7,1924 in Lexington, KY to Roy and Irene Crouch.

She married U. Grant Grayson, the love of her life, on June 3,1944.  In 1951, they moved to St. Louis, MO with their two children, Patricia Lee and John Grant. Grant’s work brought them to Kansas City in 1959 where she lived out the rest of her life. Betty was the epitome of a true stay-at-home Mother and loved being that. She served over 40 years as an American Red Cross Volunteer at the University of Kansas Hospital and often joked that they grew old together!
She was a Volstar volunteer at JCCC for 20 years and loved seeing live performances.
She was honored to serve humbly as a Deacon at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church.
Betty was widowed suddenly at the age of 58 and continued to live her life as a beautiful model of Christian faith and strength.

If you had the pleasure of knowing her for any length of time, you probably received a greeting card from her.  Sending cards with handwritten notes in them was her personal ministry. She was truly a welcomed friend to many. Her last three years were spent with loving friends and staff at Brookdale Overland Park.

Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Grayson (Terry) Tackett of Olathe, granddaughter Rebecca Tackett (Jason) Dyro of Lenexa and Suzanne Tackett of Leawood and three treasured great-grandchildren Parker, Kennedi and Mckinlee Dyro.  A part of Betty died in July 1995 with the sudden death of her son, Dr. John Grant Grayson.

In memory of Betty, remember what she meant to you and smile, send a card to someone, make that overdue phone call, and spread kindness to those who need it most.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 10-11:30AM, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church Youth
