Betty Osborn

June 24, 1925 — July 13, 2018

Betty Osborn, age 93, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus our Lord on Friday July 13, 2018 at Skyline Ridge Care Center.

Betty was born on June 24, 1925 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Roscoe and Dana (née Potts) Evinger.  An active Christian her entire life, Betty was a member of the Osawatomie Pilgrim Holiness Church as a child and also a member of the Osawatomie Christian Church in her young adult years.  After marrying her husband Clifford, the both of them regularly attended the Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Missouri from 1960 to present.  While raising her family in Kansas City, she enjoyed her career as a cashier with the Gilbert Robinson Fine Restaurants of Kansas City for 13 years.  She also opened and operated her own preschool business teaching and loving infants and toddlers for over 15 years before retiring.  Her talents and hobbies included home decorating, shopping, cooking, baking, entertaining in her home, flower gardening, playing hymns on her piano, traveling to the beach as well as road trips visiting her family and friends with her husband.   Betty and her loving husband lived a beautiful life in the Kansas City area with their family, and a fun well deserved retirement in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She loved and treasured all of her nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many dearly loved friends throughout the country.  She is survived by her youngest daughter, Teresa (Osborn) Knox; her loving son-in-law, George Knox, Jr.; her younger sister, Mary Louise (Evinger) Gibbons; her beautiful grandchildren, Dana Kay (Kevin) Brunet, Donald (Carrie) Wills, Devra (Jonathan) Tomlin, Nathan Swemke, and her six precious great- grandchildren.   In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years Clifford E. Osborn; her brother, William Evinger; her precious son, James Roscoe Phillips and her eldest child, Carolyn “Kay” (England) Swemke. Visitation will be from  10:30 to 11:00am Saturday July 21st at The Well Wesleyan Church in Osawatomie, Kansas. A funeral service will follow at 11:00AM.  Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens located at 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas.  George and Teresa Knox are thankful to each staff member and forever grateful for the loving care given to their Momma by Sangre de Cristo Hospice Cañon City, Colorado and Skyline Ridge Care Center Cañon City, Colorado. Donations in loving Memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, The Well Wesleyan Church Osawatomie Kansas and Sangre de Cristo Hospice Cañon City Colorado.
