Donald Bol

Donald G. Bol passed away October 13, 2018 at the age of 88.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Bol of 66 years, his 3 children: Susan Hensler, David Bol wife Jeanette, and Tom Bol wife Cree. He has 6 grandchildren:  Matt Hensler, Michael Hensler, Katie Hensler, Grace Bol, Emily Bol, and Skyler Bol.

Don was born November 9, 1929 in Lafayette, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents Otto and Florence Bol and his brother Merle. In high school Don was an accomplished basketball player and it was there that he met the love of his life, Joyce. They married May 30, 1952 after attending Purdue University and began their life’s journey together.

Don served in the Coast Guard early on in their marriage. After his service time, he began his employment of 30 years with Union Carbide. He was an accomplished business professional. During that time, Don and his family moved numerous times around the country before finally retiring and moving back to Leawood, Kansas. Don continued his career by helping the development of L-TEC where he would serve as the Vice President for 15 years. Don could never stay idle so in his final retirement years he contributed to multiple charitable activities including habitat for humanity, counseling for young entrepreneurs, volunteer work at the Village Presbyterian Church, and an ambassador at St. Joseph Medical Center to name a few.

Don was an intelligent, proud, caring, efficient, and well liked man. He enjoyed vacationing and spending quality time with his family, socializing with their many friends, traveling, golf, tennis, and playing duplicate bridge. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and provider for his family. His life evolved around Joyce, the most important person in his life. Don was always available to offer his guidance, wisdom, and love whenever needed to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held  at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Village Presbyterian Church 6641 Mission Rd. Prairie Village, Kansas 66208, followed by a reception at the church.
