Elliott Smith

Elliott Smith, 98, passed away at his home in Prairie Village, KS on June 6, 2017.
Mr. Smith was born in Fayette, Missouri and was the son of Dr. Elliott and Charlotte Smith. He was educated in the Fayette schools and then attended Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO, graduating from Junior College in 1938. He then attended Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO graduating with an AD Degree Mid-Term 1940-41.

He moved to Kansas City, MO in 1941 – later Johnson County, KS, where he has resided since 1953.

Mr. Smith served in the Navy during World War II, serving aboard Ship in the South Pacific.
He was employed by the Carter Waters Corp., KC, MO, for 36 years – retiring at the end of 1981 as Manager of the Petroleum Department. He then began working as a Real Estate Agent for 2 years and then formed the Elliott Smith Reality Company, listing and selling Pomona Lake property for twelve years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lucille Smith in late 1989; and his twin brother George A. Smith in 1958. In June of 1997 he married Trudy Tracy, who also preceded him in death in October of 2007.

He leaves a daughter, Dee Anne Butterfield, Overland Park, KS; a son and daughter in law, William and Michel Smith, Corpus Christie, TX; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13 from 1:30-2PM, service 2PM, at Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210, burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
