Ernest E. Poore, 89, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Ernest was born December 19, 1928 in Molony, Iowa to Opal (Darnnell) and Guy Poore. He was known as a soft-spoken, hardworking, generous man who loved to hunt and fish. Ernest was a dedicated farmer for many years until becoming a welder at Cramer Chair located in Kansas City; driving from Savanah, Missouri into the city every single day for work. He and Marjorie moved to Summerville, South Carolina to follow their son, Ernie, who was in the Navy. They continued to reside in Summerville for 10 years before returning to Kansas City.

He was a member of Faith Temple Family Worship Center in Kansas City, Kansas and always a regular every Saturday night at the Glory Barn accompanied by his wife, Nancy. Ernest loved traveling to Oklahoma City to attend the horse races and was notorious for getting lost along the way, where there was always an adventure to be had. Ernest favored the summer season, red roses, bowling, oreo cookies, and babysitting his beloved grand-dog, Ms. Vegas, who loved him back just as much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Marjorie; second wife, Nancy; and two sons, Claude and Lee Poore.

He is survived by his sons, Ernest (Sonja) Poore, of Corpus Christi, TX; David Poore, of Summerville, SC; Gary (Alex) Poore, of Ladson, SC; and David (Judy) Sweeney of Kansas City, KS; daughters, Nina Smith and Kathy Melton, both of Fresno, CA; Tina Poore, of Summerville, SC; DiAnna (John) Germeyer, of Kansas City, KS; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
