James Jobson

July 6, 1939 — March 15, 2019

Welcome James Jobson, known as “Jim” to his friends and family, passed away on March 15, 2019 at the age of 79.  He joins his mother, Catherine Low Jobson, his father, Robert Thompson Jobson and brother, Robert Jobson in eternal rest.  He is survived by his sister Anna Jobson and his brother, Charles Jobson and his three children and their spouses:  Diana Jobson Cheshire and Jim Cheshire, James Christopher Jobson and Shelley Kent Jobson and Craig Robert Jobson.   He has numerous grandchildren:  Evan Cheshire, Cara Cheshire, Dayne Jobson, Michael Jobson, Jordan Jobson, Kyle Jobson and Braden Jobson.   His family misses him dearly.

Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 6, 1939.  He graduated from St. Louis University with a B.S. in Commerce and he graduated from Webster College with a M.B.A..  He served in the Air Force in the mid to late 1960s.  He worked as an Engineer as Southwestern Bell and retired after 38 years of service.

He was married to Jan Thierauf Jobson and together they raised three children in Overland Park, Kansas.  Jim was an involved father and was active in his children’s lives and volunteered for many years with the local Boy Scout troop as a merit badge counselor and enjoyed attending summer camp.   Jim and Jan divorced in the 1990s.

In 2000, Jim married Olga Jobson and they lived in Chesterfield, Missouri.  In his retirement, Jim kept busy collecting antiques and worked part time at various jobs including a regional telephone company, and a local community college.

Jim left Olga in 2018 to be cared for by his children and he moved back to Overland Park, Kansas.

Jim will be remembered for his generosity, mischievous sense of humor, commitment to education, and his ability to tell great stories.
