John Allen

John Frank Allen, 80, Overland Park, KS, passed away on February 8, 2018 at home.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, on Friday, February 16, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home, 505 E Court Ave, Winterset, IA 50273. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1026 N 8th Ave, Winterset, IA 50273. Burial will follow at North McDonald Cemetery in Winterset, IA.

John was born June 17, 1937 in Winterset, IA. He married Maryellen Magnuson on June 20, 1959. They had 2 children, Leslie and Michael. John worked for the majority of his career in the container industry for Riekes Container.

His annual ski trips with his friends “The Animals” and other ski trips with his family were legendary and the happiest times of his life. He was a fantastic husband, father, son, brother, and friend and he left the world a better place because he was in it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Oleta Allen; sister, Cleda Montgomery; and brother, Bill Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Maryellen; daughter, Leslie Allen; son, Mike Allen; grandsons, Nolan Allen, Frank Rodrigues, and Ryan Kelly-Allen; and sister, Shirley Bolton.
