John Webb

February 13, 1979 — April 8, 2019

John Avery Webb was liberated from the constraints of his physical existence on April 11, 2019 at the age of forty.  He lived a heroic 31 years after an accident that changed his life forever.  John is an inspiration to all for his courage and strength – he has impacted so many lives in his short time here.

John was born February 13, 1979 in Kansas City, the son of Clifford Webb (deceased) and Linda (Rehak, Webb) DePriest.  John was  a fearless and bright young man with so much promise and passion for his convictions.  He was a star soccer player, enjoyed cub scouts and had a brilliant mind that enabled him to skip 2nd grade.  He was active in sports and school activities and very close to his sister who was the yin to his yang.  John attended Brookridge Day School until his accident, and then was integrated into the Shawnee Mission school system through his high school years.  Despite his physical limitations John had a way of touching people in ways as others couldn’t. Even after his accident, he could still manage a smile when interacting with loved ones.

John is survived by his mother Linda DePriest and stepfather Ottie Depriest of Olathe, his sister Terra Webb of Kansas City, his aunt Sue (Greg) Barnes, Overland Park, cousins Trevor Smith, Kansas City, Kelsey Smith, Lenexa and Lindsey Smith, Lawrence, aunt Nancy Rehak, Boulder, Colorado and countless other loving caregivers.

There will be a celebration of life at Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210 at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019.  Memorial contributions may be made to Brain Injury Association of America, www.biausa.org or Olathe Hospice House, 15310 S. Marion Street, Olathe, Kansas 66061.
