John “Jack” Roger Gambill, 73, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by family.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Kristin (Swanson) Gambill; his son, Brian Gambill, and his fiancée, Bla Her; his daughter, Jill McEnaney, and her husband Ryan; his grandson, Dublin McEnaney; his brother Tom Gambill and his wife, Margaret; his canine companion, Charly; and countless extended family and close friends.  Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Viola Gambill.

Jack was born in St. Louis and raised in Kansas City, MO.  In his early years, Jack enjoyed playing baseball and wandering off without telling anyone.  After graduating from Southwest High School in 1962, he studied history and graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.  He met his wife, Kristin Swanson, on a blind date which involved a Clint Eastwood triple feature.  Kris fell asleep on this date.  Nevertheless, they had a second date and eventually married in 1970 in St. Joseph, MO.

In 1972, the couple moved to Overland Park, KS where they raised their two children, Jill and Brian.  After working various jobs, Jack started his own business, Roof Management Corporation.  He not only took great pride in his business, but he truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.  Over the years, his reputation and expertise in his work made him a top roof consultant in the country and he traveled throughout the country inspecting roofs.

Jack had a passion for helpings others, including spontaneously performing “good deeds” for complete strangers.  He had an inherent ability to sense when others needed help and he selflessly enjoyed helping them.  Jack also had a passion for laughing and making others laugh.
