Judith Shannon

Judith A. Shannon, 76, Overland Park, KS passed away on August 12, 2018 at her home.   Mrs. Shannon was born May 25, 1942 to Kenneth and Bertha Leggett in Clinton, IA where she spent her childhood.  After graduating from Clinton High School in 1960, she attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA where she met John R. Shannon Jr.  They were married on February 3, 1962.  Mrs. Shannon forged a career as a Navy wife, homemaker and mother of four children, during which, she and her family lived throughout the United States.    She retired in 1996 to become a full-time grandma to her six grandchildren.

Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a daughter-in-law, Clara Shannon.

She is survived by her four children; John R. Shannon III and his wife, Kim, of Overland Park, Troy K. Shannon and his wife, Janice, of Olathe, KS, Trent A. Shannon of Miami, FL,  and a daughter, Tracy B. Van Dyke and her husband, Doug, of Leawood, KS; her six beloved grandchildren: Caroline L. Shannon and Natalie L. Shannon of Overland Park, Quinn R. Van Dyke and Drew A. Van Dyke of Leawood, KS, Andrew Shannon and Sophia Grace Shannon of Miami, FL,; and her sister, Janet Vancil of Rogers, AR.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday September 3rd at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS.  Friends may call from 5:00-7:30 Sunday September 2nd at the chapel.
