Robert Braden

December 14, 1932 — August 11, 2018

Robert L. Braden, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was surrounded by the love of his family, holding his hands in theirs. His heart was ready for rest and peace.

He was born on December 14, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. After graduating from Central High School, Bob joined the US Marine Corps and served on Kodiak Island, Alaska during the Korean War. He was proud of his service. It was while on Kodiak that he fell in love with nature, fishing and hunting.

In 1979, he married Alida H. Wolczek of Chicago, Ill., who was the love of his life. Always together, they traveled extensively for business and pleasure. Two unforgettable trips were traveling on the Simplon Orient Express and Venice, Italy.  Both hold very special memories.

In addition to traveling with Alida, Bob also visited many exotic destinations on hunting and fishing “Experiences” with friends Ken, Charlie, Mike, John, Bob L. and Vic. While at home, golf was a favorite pastime, especially when he shot a Hole-In-One!

Bob was an innovator in the Graphic Arts Industry. He developed national industry-leading typesetting technology which he generously shared with other typographers. As a result of his achievements, he was recognized with many national honors. He proudly served as the President of Typographers International Association, a group in which he formed many lifelong friendships. Locally, he founded Typographics, Uppercase and Universal Color Corp. These businesses, along with Klären Colour were consolidated into Braden Industries, Inc.

Bob is survived by his wife, Alida (Wolczek), sons Mark (Beth) of Fairway, KS, Paul of Aurora, MO, James George of Hudson, FL, daughter Karen of Belton, MO, brother Richard (Judy) and grandchildren Sarah, Paige and Matthew.

Bob deeply loved life, his beloved Alida, his children and grandchildren. He was loved in return.  We will miss him. XOXOXOXO
