Robert Colburn

April 8, 1919 — May 26, 2017

Robert "Bob" Colburn, 98, of Lenexa, a dedicated servant of the lord departed his earthly body to join his creator and heavenly father on Friday, May 26th.

Bob was born in Hodgeman County, KS, April 8, 1919. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Engineering. He was married to Eunice “Lib” Colburn for 59 years until her passing in 2001.  In 2006, he married Peggy Miller Colburn.

A man of God, Robert walked passionately in the footsteps of Christ. He was a dedicated servant and leader to his family, church, and country. He served as a Captain in the US Army during WWII. He was a loving friend, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and much more.

It is impossible to understate the compassion, strength, and love that Bob brought into this world and imparted on those around him.  His passing is a devastating loss to all those who love him. We celebrate, though, that his unshakable faith and shining example live on today through the kind and loving acts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be forever missed.

Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy Colburn, his sister, Isabelle Kirschner,  five children Betty Bamberger and husband Dennis, Bonnie Davis and husband Steve, Vicki Beals and husband Kevin, Chris Colburn, Jody Beckley and husband Chet, Sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Bess Colburn, wife, Eunice "Lib" Colburn, brothers Hiram, Edward, and John, sisters, Helen, Betty, Mary, and Evelyn, and grandson, Doug Danaher.

Funeral arrangements will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Hillcrest Covenant Church 8801 Nall Ave.  Visitation will be from 11:30-12:30 pm.  Service to follow with burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens 11200 Metcalf Ave.
