Thomas "Tom" Wiley

Thomas A. Wiley passed away January 8, 2018. He was born September 30, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO.

He graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph,MO.  He lived most of his life in the area.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas University in 1950 and a Master’s degree in 1966.  He was a licensed professional engineer.  He was employed for 34 years at the Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies Plant.  When he retired in 1991 he was Manager of Quality Electrical Engineering.

He was a member of the Plattsburg Missouri Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Temple of Kansas City and Ararat Shrine. He spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren, traveling and volunteering(17 years) at the Overland Park Police Department.  He was a member of the Overland Park Kiwanis Club, and the Church of the Resurrection.  He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Bill Wiley of Salt Lake City, UT.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby, his son, Dr. Thomas M. Wiley(Cathie) of Topeka, a daughter, Nancy Hardy(James) of Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren, Seth of Ann Arbor, MI, Marissa of Brooklyn, NY, Jillian of Topeka, Destenee of Indianapolis, IN, Britton, Greyson, and Delaney of Jacksonville, FL.

Services will be Saturday, January 13th at 2 pm at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens.  He requests no flowers.  The family suggest food donations to Kansas City Hospice House.
