William Scribner

July 11, 1960 — September 16, 2017

William Charles “Bucky” Scribner, 57, Camdenton, MO, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House from brain cancer.

Bucky was born July 11, 1960, in Lawrence, KS to Nancy and John Scribner. He was the first born of both, and the grandchild in the family. Bucky grew up in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1983. Bucky married his wife Cindy on April 28, 1984. He played professional football for the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. He had two sons, Jacob (1985) and Cody (1988). Bucky retired from football in 1990, and went to work for Holliday Sand and Gravel, where he was employed until it was sold in 2008. He then retired to the Lake of the Ozarks, where he was an avid golfer and boater. He also enjoyed traveling to Mexico and spending time with family and friends. Bucky was loved by anyone who met him, and will be missed by all.

We, the family, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following institutions for their care and support: North Kansas City Hospital Surgical Team; Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC; University of Kansas Health System Oncology Unit; and the Kansas City Hospice House.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Swearingen; step-father, Tom Swearingen; father, John Scribner; father-in-law, Doyle Schick; grandparents, W.W. “Doc” Wempe and Peg Wempe; uncle, Steve Wempe; aunt, Patty Transmeirer; and brother, Tony Scribner.
