Obituary

Christopher “Chris” David Thomas, 48, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away October 19, 2026. He was born on December 28, 1977, in Chicago, IL, the son of David and Anne Thomas.

Chris is survived by his best friend and mother of his children, Nia Oropeza-Thomas of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Sydney Thomas; sons Kevin and Noah Thomas of Overland Park, KS; parents, David and Anne Thomas of Overland Park, KS; sister, Meredyth Vick of Kansas City, KS; aunt Donna Thomas of Brooklyn, NY; mother- in-law Rose Hinkle of Ottawa, KS and father-in-law Kevin Hinkle of Naples, FL; brother-in-law Jeremy Monslow of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law Amanda Hinkle of Overland Park, KS; and countless extended family members and friends.

Chris was one of the most exuberant individuals you could meet. He never met a stranger who didn’t potentially become a friend. He was the consummate networker who could light up a room…he was not a wall flower.

Chris embraced adventure and enjoyed making the most of every opportunity. Whether hanging out with friends, mudding with his best friend Nia, tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium with family and friends, attending KU basketball games, or fishing in Mexico, he found joy in the experiences he shared with others. His adventurous spirit also led him to go skydiving and hike down the Grand Canyon, creating unforgettable memories and stories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Chris was a devoted father who took immense pride in his three children. Some of his happiest moments were the times he spent with them, whether taking them to Chiefs football games, cheering at KU basketball games, or simply enjoying being together. He loved watching his children grow and was so proud of each of them. Being their dad was one of the most meaningful parts of his life, and the time he shared with them created memories that will forever be treasured.

Chris was a seasoned Sales Medical Consultant with over 18 years working in the medical device industry. Most recently, he was the Advanced Wound Care Specialist at Essity. Previously he worked at Acumed, Organogenesis, and Synthes. He was passionate about providing the best in patient care and was skilled at working collaboratively with surgeons, doctors, nurses, and team members to help patient healing through the correct and timely application of medical devices.

Chris will be deeply missed by the family and friends who were blessed to know him and share in his life. His kindness, the memories he created, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who loved him will remain with them always.
