Donna Jean (Chaffin) Penny
November 12, 1956 – June 26, 2026
Donna Jean (Chaffin) Penny, 69, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Donna was born November 12, 1956, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Donald and Barbara Chaffin of Broken Arrow, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1974.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dwayne Penny of Overland Park, Kansas. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Will Penny and his wife Suzanne of Watertown, Massachusetts, and Brad Penny and his wife Kaci of Overland Park, Kansas. Donna’s greatest joy was her five grandchildren: Jack, Brynn, Anniston, Weston, and Emerson. She loved cheering them on at their games and made every moment with them special.
Donna is also survived by her brother, Jeff Chaffin and his wife Tammy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and her sister, Liz Cather and her husband Brian of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a cherished aunt to her nieces, Melissa McMorris and her husband Jeromy of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Kasie and Marc Gammiero of Los Angeles, California.
Donna had a true passion for interior design and a gift for making every house feel like home. When a loved one moved, she was always the first call and the first to show up, ready to turn empty rooms into warm, welcoming spaces. Her love of design and eye for treasure led her to own Abbey Road Antique Mall in Jenks, Oklahoma. She never missed an estate sale or auction and could spot the story in every piece she found.
Family was the center of Donna’s world. She loved hosting large holiday gatherings, and at Christmas, the Penny household was transformed into the North Pole. Her warmth, creativity, and generous spirit made every celebration unforgettable.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Wednesday, July 8th. Burial service will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Donna will be remembered for her loving heart, her beautiful sense of style, and the way she made everyone feel at home.
