In Loving Memory of Lola “Imogene” Sexton Drown

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved L. “Imogene” Sexton Drown, the true rock of our family. She peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2026, in Lenexa, Kansas, at the age of 102, leaving a legacy of faith, strength, and unconditional love.

Imogene born June 21, 1924, in Moko, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Jim and Ethel King Sexton. She was married on August 3, 1950, to Vernon L. Drown and together they raised three children, Dale Young, Peggy Young Alagna and Dennis L. Drown.

Imogene is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ethel Sexton, her husband of 59 years, Vernon L. Drown, daughter Peggy Young Alagna. Four brothers and four sisters: Mittie Sexton, Sterling Sexton, Olen Sexton, Lowell Sexton, Hayden Sexton, Viola Glee Sexton, Emolene Sexton Moser and Evelyn Sexton.

Imogene leaves to morn her passing; Two sons: Dale Young of Lenexa, Kansas and Dennis Drown of Shawnee, Kansas. Five Grandchildren, Dianna Huber and husband Dan, Doug Alagna and wife Tracy, Dena Thompson and Husband John, Eli Drown and wife Mendy, Aaron Drown and wife Jenny. Nine Great Grandchildren, Nicholas Huber, Olivia Huber, Brenna Alagna, Krystal Thompson, Johnny Thompson, Joe Thompson, Leila Drown, Karsen Drown, Colton Drown. Three Great-Great Grandchildren. Levi , Wren and Hailey Thompson.

A woman of diverse talents and a sharp entrepreneurial spirit, she spent her early professional years making others feel beautiful as a dedicated hairdresser and successful salon owner. Later in life, she channeled her energy and love for helping people into a rewarding career as a realtor. No matter what her profession, her warmth and charisma left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Above all, her life was defined by her unwavering faith and devotion to God. She was a faithful member of Lenexa Baptist Church. For many years, she shaped others shared the gospel as a Sunday school teacher. She was a known as a true “prayer warrior”, consistently interceding for her loved ones and strangers alike. Her family always knew they were covered in her prayers.

We will miss her deeply every single day, but we fill our hearts with gratitude knowing that our prayer warrior has received her eternal reward and is walking with the Lord and will be resting peacefully in the arms of the savior.
