Obituary

Janet Faye Scheer (nee Weber) was born on the family farm in a limestone barn next to the house on September 5, 1940 in Lincolnville, KS to Herbert and Mathilda Weber. She was baptized on September 22, 1940 and confirmed in the faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Herington, KS on April 11, 1954. She was married May 14th, 1961 to Duane Scheer son of Arthur, and Esther Scheer of Kansas City, KS at Immanuel Lutheran Church by T.A. Weinhold.

They moved to Kansas City, MO, St. Joseph MO and then to Lenexa, KS. They lived there for 30 years. During this time, she was blessed by God with three children, Paul, Russell and Faith. She worked at GEHA, Johnson County Credit Union as a teller, in a Sports Memorabilia Shop, she also helped Duane open and run his lawn service and then she worked at JCPenney until retirement.

Shortly after Duane’s passing in November of 2000 to be close to family she moved to Temecula, California, Oronogo, Missouri, and then to Spring, Texas.

Janets’ joys in life were serving the Lord in LWMS, playing cards, being with family, and working on quilting in her free time. She worked in many quilt groups in churches and donated quilts to special projects. Janet was a lifelong Christian in the Lutheran faith. She has been a member at Mt Olive in Overland Park KS, Christ the Vine in Temecula CA, Faith Lutheran in Carthage MO. She was also part of a core group starting a church mission in Joplin, MO and for 4 years was a member at Abiding Word Lutheran in Houston.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Duane. She is survived by her children, Paul Scheer and his wife Anna and their children Haley (Nick) Stevens, Jacob (Maran) Scheer, Zachary Scheer, and Chloe Scheer, and 2 great grandchildren in Severance, CO; Russell Scheer and his wife Angel and their children Anthony Scheer, Heather Scheer, and Tiffany (Gavin) Steuck, and 5 great grandchildren in Nevada, MO; and Faith Scheer in Spring, TX and her brothers Leroy and his wife Pam of Rosehill, KS and Allen and his wife Beth of Grand Junction, CO.

Janet’s remains will rest in Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS next to her husband Duane.
