Jean Marie Neumann (née Sexton), 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, entered into the presence of the Lord on August 4, 2026, from the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jean was born on May 1, 1956, in Merriam, Kansas, to Clarence “Gene” Sexton and Evelyn Sexton. She grew up with a caring heart that would define the way she lived her entire life.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Jean was married to the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Neumann, for 49 wonderful years. Together they built a family centered on love, kindness, and unwavering support for one another.

Jean dedicated 23 years to serving students in Food Service for the Olathe School District before retiring in 2012. Before beginning her career, she cherished her years as a stay-at-home mother, pouring her heart into raising her daughters. Whether caring for her family at home or serving hundreds of students each day, Jean had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved, cared for, and welcomed.

Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in the generosity and compassion she extended to everyone she met. Jean enjoyed reading, crocheting, solving puzzles, shopping, and traveling, especially in her younger years. She adored her beloved fur babies, but nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family—especially her cherished grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. It was not uncommon to find her with a good book in one hand and a crochet hook in the other.

Those who knew Jean will remember her for her warm smile, contagious laughter, generous spirit, and selfless heart. She would do anything for those she loved. Whether caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, or the students she faithfully served for over two decades, Jean consistently put others before herself. Her kindness touched countless lives, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Jean is survived by her loving husband, Richard “Rick” Neumann; her daughters, Jennifer Young of Wichita, Kansas, and Jessica (Grady) McWilliams of Overland Park, Kansas; and her six beloved grandchildren, Nicolas, Kaylin, Lydia, Olivia, Jayla, and Paxton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence “Gene” Sexton and Evelyn Sexton, and her brother, John Sexton.

Jean’s kindness, faith, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

A memorial service celebrating Jean’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Jean’s memory.
