Pamela Elizabeth
Meeker
June 7, 1944 – January 26, 2026
Pamela Elizabeth (Gore) Meeker of Leawood KS, 81, passed away on January 25, 2026. Pam was born on June 7, 1944 in Lynn, MA to parents Bernard Leo Gore and Marguerite Aldana (Knowles) Gore. There will be a Memorial Service with Catholic Mass on Cape Cod, MA at Holy Trinity Church in Harwich, MA on June 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Immediately following a Graveside Service will be held at the Island Pond Cemetery in the Gore Family Plot. The Church of the Nativity in Leawood, KS held a Catholic Mass for Collective Intentions on March 12, 2026. Local gatherings are being held to remember and honor Pam as a friend full of energy, positivity and generosity, giving freely of her time, talent and gifts to family, friends and causes.
Pam spent summers on the Palmyra, ME family farm and also worked at the Newport, ME family drive-in theater. She was an excellent big sister in spite of her brothers' enjoyment of tormenting her on a daily basis! One example is a Christmas when she was eight years old and her brothers were five and three. The boys arose early, opened all of the gifts, including hers and quickly went back to bed. When Pam saw the mess they created she screamed and cried most of the morning! She grew up in Melrose, MA attending public schools and graduating from Melrose High School in 1962. She explored singing and violin lessons, but excelled in dance and those skills helped her become a varsity cheerleader. Her senior year she cheered for undefeated hockey and basketball teams that went on to win their New England High School Championships.
After high school, Pam attended Westbrook Junior College (ME) and earned an AD-Dental Hygienist Degree in 1965. She moved to Boston and worked as a dental hygienist while attending Northeastern University (MA) where she earned a BS-Business Administration Degree in 1967. In 1970 after visiting a friend in Kansas City she moved there permanently to experience Kansas. She often visited Cape Cod to enjoy summer vacations and spend holidays with family. Pam began working for Smith Kline & French Labs in 1975 as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and was one of the first women hired in pharma sales in the Kansas City area. She excelled and was promoted to Vaccine Specialist, retiring in 2000. Her entrepreneurial spirit steered her to establish Adrianna, LLC, a business that sold women’s items at outdoor shows, including bead necklaces she designed.
Pam met the love of her life, Robert L. Meeker (Bob) in 1975 at the Georgetown Apartments where young professionals lived. With mutual interests they began dating and joined the KC Ski Club to enjoy social gatherings and ski trips. They married in 1987 and moved to Leawood, KS where Pam was involved in the Leawood South HOA as Activities Chair, initiating a neighborhood dinner club. They joined Hallbrook Country Club enjoying exercising, golfing, swimming and dining. Pam was delighted when Bob and his nephew received a patent for the “Golf Swing” training device they invented. Beloved canines were considered family and daily walks were routine. With the help of friends, Pam's dogs, Maggie (standard poodle) and Brody (maltipoo) were adopted into loving homes.
Pam enjoyed entertaining, so hosting Christmas Eve with Santa created joyful memories for family and friends. She took Christmas decorating to new levels with at least five trees, door wreaths competitions, huge red bows, and holiday collections. Hours were spent making her special recipes for cranberry jam and cranberry cordials that were gifted to friends. Maine lobsters were flown in to celebrate loved ones birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. They held KU basketball and football season tickets for many years, so the road to Lawrence KS was well traveled. Football season was especially fun when Pam’s younger cousin played on the KU football team! The “Rock Chalk Chant" was cherished as friends gathered to watch games in their basement decorated with KU memorabilia.
Pam’s love of art was evident as their home was filled with collectible artwork and antiques. Her creativity included home, floral and jewelry design, canvas painting, and gardening. There were always art projects that included KU Jayhawk, Christmas, Easter canvas paintings that she graciously shared with friends. The Meekers regularly attended performing arts events that included the KC Ballet, KC Symphony and Kauffman Center. Philanthropic fundraisers were date nights including one in particular at the Children’s Miracle Network when Bob won the Millennium Falcon Model from the Glenwood Theater. This treasure was a massive and humorous item to deliver home and Pam insisted it would only be displayed on the garage ceiling! Volunteering and attending events at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art aligned with her artistic interest and talent. Her passion for art also led to involvement at the Kansas City Art Institute with membership in Vanderslice, Fireside and Sketchbox auxiliaries. Pam served as President of Vanderslice and was Vice-President of the Homes Tour in early 2000’s. She was a Fireside Co-host for the Winter Wonderland Luncheon & Boutique multiple times that raised funds for student scholarships.
