Bob Adelsperger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor. He had so many great qualities including being: kind, funny, hard-working, trustworthy, and creative.

Bob was born on February 5th, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Alfred John Adelsperger and Bertha Dora (Schmus) Adelsperger, and had an older sister Dorothy (Adelsperger) Dahlin. His father owned a drug store and his mother was active in societies and organizations.

Bob attended Greenwood Elementary School and graduated from Southeast High School in 1954. In 1958, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Business Administration. There, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity.

After graduation, Bob served in the US Air Force as a captain from 1958-1962 in Washington DC and Okinawa, Japan. He then worked as a purchasing agent at several businesses including Imco Container Company for 17 years and The Army Corps of Engineers until retirement.

Bob married Charlotte (Rist) Adelsperger in 1965, and they were married for 59 years before Charlotte passed. Their inseparable love and companionship was evident to all - a perfect balance that truly did complete the other. They had two children: Karen Sue (Adelsperger) Hayse and John Walter Adelsperger. They welcomed son -in-law Mark Hayse and daughter-in-law Meghan (Newell) Adelsperger to the family. They had 5 grandchildren: Melinda Mary (Hayse) Ralston, Madisen Adelsperger, Jack Adelsperger, Jennifer Hayse, and Isabella Hayse. They also had two great grandchildren: Melody Arroyo and Elijah Ralston. Bob loved his dogs Bumps and Betsy, but was also an outstanding dog grandpa to many family pups. He loved his extended family as well.

They were long-time members of Asbury United Methodist Church. They transferred to Colonial Presbyterian Church as it was starting out. In both communities, Bob and Charlotte were active members, hosting groups in their home, reaching out to other members, and volunteering as needed. Their faith showed through their love and generosity to countless people.

Bob and Charlotte were known all over their neighborhood, Summercrest. Their door was always open to neighbors, especially the children who "adopted" them as grandparents - the McMullen and Coughlin Families among others. They also opened their doors to many overnight guests passing through.

Bob had a very special relationship with his friend from Kindergarten, Max Clouder. They were friends for 85 years, up until the last days. Max and his wife Donna celebrated holidays and took vacations with Bob and Charlotte. Similarly, Bob and Charlotte were very close to his college roommate, Clayton Miller, and his wife Joan.

Bob was active and creative. He enjoyed golf and tennis. Hiking in Colorado and castle tours in Europe were special memories.

He created a number of miniatures, including a replica of his father's drugstore and miniature versions of every house Charlotte and he lived in. Bob was known for his painted Halloween pumpkins he gave to many. He had an extensive antique collection of dime store soldiers.

He loved the Chiefs, Tigers, and Royals, loyal even during losing streaks. Music, especially that of Vera Lyn, could bring him to tears. Bob was a contender at family matches of croquet and of Wizard card games.

His greatest delight was in his family and making memories together. Bob felt like he got to live "many lives" and that he was very blessed in all of them.

Bob's favorite quote is from Les Miserable: "To love another person is to see the face of God."
