Sally Ann Gieschen

Sally was born April 26, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa to Lyle and Ruth Christensen. She graduated from Central High School, Sioux City in 1955. 

Sally married Roger Gieschen August 22, 1956, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Santa Rosa, California. They shared their love and lives together for 67 years. 

Sally was employed by Dodge Community Hospital early in her marriage before having two children, Julie Ann and Gregory Paul. Sally was a homemaker during her children’s development years living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Wichita, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas. She actively participated in the congregations and assisted Roger with administrative help in his ministries as mission developer and bishop. 

Sally was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years, where she provided leadership and service for a variety of the congregations’ caring ministries. 

Sally enjoyed sewing and painting but especially loved her time with family and friends. She was always helping others when she was able to. She will be dearly missed. 

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Ruth Christensen, a brother, Rev. Richard Christensen and her husband Rev. Roger Gieschen. She is survived by her daughter Julie Metcalfe, son Gregory Gieschen (Jennifer), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

The family will honor Sally at a graveside service at Johnson County Memorial Gardens on August 22nd at 1PM.
