Gregory Thomas Neylon

October 26, 1949 — January 31, 2021

Gregory Thomas Neylon, 71, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away January 31, 2021 away after a courageous fight against GBM – Glioblastoma Multiforme.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ed and Helen Neylon and Sandra Sue Lynch Neylon.

Greg was married to his college sweetheart Marti Saathoff and they were blessed with two children. He leaves his wife Michele Manne Neylon, Son and daughter in law, Jeffrey and Liz Neylon and daughter and son in law Heather and David Wiesing.  He leaves his sister, Karen Jochim and eight grandchildren, Ashton, Peyton, Trenton, Brittani, Brianna, Mik, Mattie and Tristan and two great grandchildren- Easton and Caroline.

Greg loved cats and had four at the time of his death. He traveled to Ft. Worth to get two sister Manx kitties – Dottie and Daisie; additionally, Tuxie was a rescue kitty and Gracie belonged to Michele’s brother.

Greg grew up in Lincoln, NE and worked for his father’s company, Neylon Brothers, where he found his love of trucking. He graduated from Pius X High School class of 1967 and Rockhurst College in 1971. Greg’s career in trucking spanned HazMat, Operations and Human Resources. He loved teaching and mentoring others.

Greg’s hobbies included Advanced Ham Radio Operator with a call sign of KF0EG. He loved traveling to Ireland with family and friends having gone twice with a 3rd trip planned and cancelled because of Covid. He loved photography and it culminated in a trip to the Serengeti in Africa.

To honor Greg’s life, memorials can be made to the Elks Foundation or a charity of your choice.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 5, 2021 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park, KS  66212.
