Marilynn Hartis

January 4, 1923 — November 14, 2021

Overland Park

Marilynn Stock Hartis, 98 years old, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice House on November 14, 2021.

Marilynn was born January 4, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Verna and Arthur Stock.  After a very short courtship, Marilynn married the love of her life, Harry Hartis from Winston-Salem, North Carolina on January 11, 1947.   They shared 56 wonderful years together before Harry’s passing in 2003.  Harry and Marilynn raised three children . . . David, Rick and Karen.

EVERYONE that knew our Mother/Grandmother loved her . . . she treated everyone with kindness and love.    She kept herself busy making many of her special crafts . . . and if you were “lucky” you received one of her many goodies she loved making.  She was sitting at her kitchen table making her crafts up until the day before her death.

Marilynn was a dedicated wife, Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother . . . her family meant everything to her and we knew it.   She was simply too good to be true!!!

Marilynn is most recently preceded in death by her sweet daughter-in- law, Ruan.  Additionally, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her mother and father, Verna and Arthur Stock; her sister, Virginia Wolf; her brothers, Donald Stock, Gregg Stock, and Jack Stock.  She is survived by her son, David Hartis and wife Bev; son, Rick Hartis; daughter, Karen Schlosser, grandchildren Amy and Bobby Gibbons, Kristin and Kerry Graybar, Brian and Jackie Hartis, Kurt Hartis, Jana and Andrew Wheeler, Jeff Schlosser; great-grandchildren, Abby, Ethan, Alex, Tyler, Allie, Hanna, Charlie, Corbin, Madi, Sami, Emily and Chris Karunda; brother, Dick Stock, sister-in-law, Sara Stock, niece, Pam Jeanneret and many other nieces and nephews.

Our family extends their deepest gratitude to all of the caregivers of St. Luke’s Hospice and St. Luke’s Hospice House.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 Summit Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111 Memo:  In Memory of Marilynn Hartis
