Mary Frances Moore, 84, Olathe, Kansas passed away January 8, 2021, surrounded by family.  Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 10:30am, Prayer of the Rosary from 10:30am to 11am, Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Burial immediately following services at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.

Mary was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 10, 1936, to Vincenzo (Jim) and Frances Balsano, who preceded her in death.  She moved to Kansas City, Mo., during childhood and received a Catholic education graduating from St. Teresa’s Academy.  She attended college to teach for several years at Catholic grade schools.

Mary met the love of her life, Thomas D. Moore, Sr., when she was the Maid of Honor and he was the Best Man for friends who ultimately eloped, but sent a note to the wedding party to enjoy the dinner. This was their first date.  Tom and Mary were married November 16, 1957 and enjoyed 31 years of wedded bliss until his passing.

Because two people fell in love, Mary and Tom were blessed with 5 children; Thomas, Jr. (Cheri) Olathe, KS, James (Shannon Links) Edgerton, KS, John (Lisa) Platte County, MO, Theodore (Tina) Lane, KS, and Ann Moore, Shawnee, KS.

Mary deeply loved and was adored by her 9 grandchildren; Jeremy Moore (Elisha) O’Fallon, MO, Christopher Moore (Trisha) Girard, KS, Bradley Moore Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Travis Moore (Anne) Lenexa, KS, Jamie Ames (Jerod) Louisburg, KS, Andrew Moore (Brittany) Fontana, KS, Angela White (Nicholas) Kansas City, MO, Adam Moore, Manhattan, KS, and Lauren Moore, Platte County, MO.

Mary was thrilled and felt privileged to have 8 great grandchildren; Scott and Levi Moore, Logan and Payten Moore, Jaxen, Miles and Raine Moore and Nora White.

Mary is also survived by her cousins; Dina Phillips and Ted Miller.

Mary was a wise counselor and confidant who would listen without judgement so her friends, children and grandchildren openly confided in her asking for advice knowing that no matter what she would always love them with her whole heart.  Your secrets where safe with Mary.

She was a generous and giving woman sharing her time and talents with family, friends and her church.  Mary was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious and beautifully decorated cakes.  Making all of her children’s wedding cakes and grandchildren’s birthday cakes, started her in business of baking for friends’ celebrations.  Mary’s home and table were always open to her family’s friends whether you were alone for a holiday or just needed a good home cooked meal.  She said if you left hungry from her table it was your own fault. Everyone was welcome to share holidays at her home and she hosted an annual Christmas Eve buffet for over 30 years. She for years baked for fundraisers for Cystic Fibrosis and her circle at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

Mary was blessed with an enormous circle of friends who remained by her side for 50+ years, Sandi Tierney, Doris Taylor and Judy Stewart to name a few. In later life Mary loved to play SkipBo cards every Wednesday with Kathy Fleming, Sandi Tierney, Kitty Marks and Cheri Moore. She was an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast with her daughter, Ann Moore. For years the “3 Galloping Gourmets”; Karen Waggoner, Kathy Fleming and Mary, met monthly for lunch at a different restaurant.

Mary had a zest for life and a remarkable will to live. Her faith in God sustained her during her 8 year battle with kidney dialysis and all of it’s consequences. Her family and friends will deeply miss her, but know that she is resting in the arms of the angels and she can see the face of her Lord. May she eternally rest in peace.
