Johnnie Morrison

Johnnie M. Morrison, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Shawnee Hills Senior Living Facility.
Johnnie was born June 8, 1926, (Happy Birthday) in Decaturville, MO and lived there until he served as a Corporal in the Army Air Force, during World War II.  After the war he moved to Kansas City where he met and married the love of his life, Ethel.  Johnnie worked construction and as a maintenance man for Associated Wholesale Grocers, where he retired.  He spent his retirement years wintering in Donna, TX and his summers fishing and camping at the Kansas State Park Lakes that he loved so much.  He was an avid fisherman and in his younger years spent time hunting with his coon dogs.  He loved the great outdoors and showing others how to catch fish.
Johnnie was a member of the Kansas Freemasons, Shawnee, KS Lodge #54 and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Overland Park, KS.  Because of his great faith in God our Father he has entered through the holy gates of heaven above to join his family and prepare a place for the others to follow.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy & Gracie May (Webb) Morrison; sister, Ida Looney; and four brothers, Clyde, Claudie, Jimmie and Jessie.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel L. (Taylor) Morrison, of the home; two daughters, Linda Hash, of Belton, MO and Patty (Dan) Chance, of Lake Stevens, WA; two sons, Johnnie R (Loretta) Morrison, of Overland Park, KS and Mark (Paula) Morrison, of Shawnee, KS; one sister, Irene (Drew) Anderson, of Bartlesville, OK; two brothers, Leroy (Laverne), of Lebanon, MO and Marion (Marjorie), of Shawnee, KS; multiple grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210. He will be laid to rest in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.
