James W. Cossairt, born February 16, 1970 passed away peacefully on July 30, 2018 after a six year battle with colorectal cancer, with his family by his side. Jim was a native of Overland Park, KS. After graduating from Shawnee Mission North in 1989, he attended The University of Kansas where he obtained his Bachelors of Business Administration in 1993 and where he met his wife of almost 24 years. Jim is survived by his Mother Kathy, Step-Father Daryl Miller, his wife Tonya, four daughters: Hayley (Lester), Jordan (Scottie), Taylor, Morgan, nephew Caleb, son Hayden, Brother Mark, grandson Bentley and fur babies Harley, Oreo, and Kami, as well as other extended family and his family in blue. “Hawk” as he was lovingly known as, served at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in several divisions for 21 years. Jim retired February 13, 2015 as Investigations Lieutenant. He served with passion and enjoyment.
Services will be held at Nall Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 6301 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, KS 66202 on Saturday August 4, 2018 with visitation from 11am to 1pm and Service at 1pm (live feed will be available at https://www.nallnaz.org. Followed by the procession to Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210 for graveside burial.
