Mary Lou Hester

October 24, 1929 ~ July 15, 2019 (age 89)

Mary Lou Hester, 89, resident of Lakeview Village in Lenexa passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth and four children, Kenneth Jr, Marilyn, Charles and Janet. Together they have sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She has one surviving brother, Elwyn Weiss of West Layfayette, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Weiss of Petersburg, MI, and a sister, Jane Reed of Blue Grass, IA.

Mary Lou was born in LaGrange County Indiana on October 24, 1929. She and Kenneth met while they were serving with the 801st Medical Air Evacuation Squadron during the Korean War.They were married in Japan on October 26, 1952 and returned home shortly before the Armistice was signed in 1953.

Mary Lou was employed for many years as a school nurse in the Shawnee Mission School District. She was a member of the Overland Park Church of Christ where she was active in the deaf ministry for many years.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:00 PM and Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel.  Dr. Dan Knight, Overland Park Church of Christ will officiate
