Alice Evelyn Justice, born on February 13, 1947, in the bustling heart of Kansas City, Missouri, made an indelible mark on the lives she touched before she passed peacefully on February 8, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center. A radiant spirit with a heart of gold, Alice will be fondly remembered as a dedicated baker and the beloved lunch lady of Lees Summit North High School, where she served not just food, but kindness and warmth, lifting the spirits of countless students.
With a tenacious spirit, Alice navigated life’s challenges, proudly claiming her education at both Shawnee Mission North High School and what she affectionately called the McLeod School of Hard Knocks. Her resilience was mirrored in her passions—she possessed an unquenchable love for baking which culminated in delightful treats that graced many tables, and was enchanted by the joy of her back yard swim pool, preferring the sun-dappled waters where laughter bubbled freely. Additionally, Alice proudly held the title of Bingo Queen, relishing the thrill of the game alongside cherished friends, all while creating memories that would echo long after her laughter faded.
Alice is survived by her loving son, Ken (Linda) Kistner, whose heart carries the echoes of her unwavering support and love. She was a treasured sister to John (Debbie) McLeod and Phil (Julianne) McLeod, who, together, shared memories that dance through family gatherings. Alice's legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her vivacious spirit.
Though Alice is preceded in death by mom (Ova), dad (Jesse) Husbands Joseph, and Dave her son, Jeff Kistner, and her sister, Laura Sue (Big Jim) Gilliham, the love she exuded remains a vibrant thread in the tapestry of their lives, weaving moments of joy and resilience.
As we reflect on this extraordinary woman, we are reminded of the sweet scent of baked goods wafting through the air, the laughter shared over games of bingo, and the love that enveloped everyone fortunate enough to know her. Alice Evelyn Justice lived a life rich in laughter and love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Following the committal service at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, the family will have a reception at Holy Cross Catholic Church 8101 W 95th St, Overland Park, KS 66212.
