Barbara Louise McTeer Ammerman

Barbara Louise (Reed) McTeer Ammerman, age 88, of Lenexa, Ks, passed into the arms of Jesus on April 4th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Bobbie was born on October 13, 1937, in Wheaton, Mo., the daughter of Omar and Nellie Reed; she was the youngest of eight children. Bobbie graduated from Wheaton High School in 1955. She was engaged with every area of school, including sports, music, drama, cheerleading, and homecoming, and made many lifelong friends.

After high school, Bobbie moved to Kansas City, Ks, where she lived with her brother, Adrian and family, and worked for Farmers Insurance. She married her high school sweetheart, Bob McTeer, on October 4, 1957. In July of 1958 they started a family and Bobbie became a devoted, loving stay-at-home mom. Bob and Bobbie attended Berean Baptist Church in Kansas City, Ks, for nearly 20 years, where she taught Sunday School, led the youth, and was very active. While staying at home, she began proofreading for Cookbook Publishers, eventually becoming the Office Manager.

Bob and Bobbie joined First Baptist Church of Shawnee in the early 1980s. Her next move was to Ferris Burns Corporation where she was the Office Manager. Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May of 1990 and passed away in September of that year. Bobbie remained a faithful, active member of FBC Shawnee.

In 1998, Bobbie married a longtime friend from Berean, George Ammerman. She retired from Ferris Burns and devoted herself to sharing special times and making memories with the extended family of Ammermans and McTeers.

George and Bobbie joined Lenexa Baptist Church in the early 2000s, where they continued to serve faithfully until Bobbie’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia in 2020. They then moved to Silvercrest at College View, where she eventually moved to Memory Care. She was graciously cared for in her final days by the staff at Silvercrest, along with Kansas City Hospice.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob McTeer, and all of her seven older siblings. She is survived by her husband, George Ammerman; three children: Pam (Larry) Ammerman, Karen (Lloyd) Gallagher, and Mike (Colleen) McTeer; George’s three children: Doug (Peggy) Ammerman, Larry (Pam) Ammerman, and Chris Ammerman; grandchildren: Rachel (Eric) Green, Matthew Ammerman, Stephen (Maggie) McTeer, David (Kara) McTeer, Daniel (Rachel) McTeer, Nathan Gallagher, Eric Gallagher, Terra (Billy) Krause, Patina (Doug) Jackson, Geo (Abbey) Ammerman, Michelle (Matt) Graham, and Eric (Adrian) Ammerman; plus 17 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
