Barbara Ann Walton

Barbara Ann Walton, teacher, 90, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023.

Barbara was born at her grandparents’ home in Lenox, Iowa on August 14, 1932 to Raymond Francis Miller and Goldie Roxie Bryant Miller.

Barbara attended schools in Chillicothe, Moberly, and Excelsior Springs, Missouri.  She graduated valedictorian of her HS graduating class.  Barbara continued her education at Missouri University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and then a Master’s degree in Education.  Barbara taught kindergarten and 1^st grade students in the Kansas City Missouri School district until retirement.  She loved her students and remembered many of their stories her whole life.

Barbara was engaged in life and enjoyed travel and activities with friends. She was an avid reader and had fun sharing a variety of books back and forth.  Barbara was an active listener and showed real interest in the lives of others.  She shared her deep faith in Christ with words of encouragement and was faithful in prayer for those around her.

Barbara is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth E. Walton, her parents, and grandparents.

Barbara will be greatly missed by many special friends.

Graveside service will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions can be made to organizations Barbara supported:  Salvation Army; Boys Town; Lakeview Village Foundation; Hillsdale College.
