Barbara (Bobbe) Jean Benton (nee Wilson), 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love on October 24, 2022.
Bobbe was born in Topeka on October 8th, 1928 to Ralph and Edna Wilson (nee Colvin). She attended Shawnee Mission High School (North) where she met the love of her life, Bob. Bob and Bobbe were married in 1948 for 58 years until Bob’s passing. She graduated from Stephen’s College with her Associate's degree in Homemaking, using those skills effortlessly throughout her life.
Bobbe was a talented seamstress, and her love for antiques took her to reupholster furniture, in which she excelled. After becoming an empty nester, Bobbe focused her nurturing nature through childcare, working for the YMCA in before and after school care. Bobbe loved traveling, time on their sailboat, playing cards with her friends, and spending time with her family. Bobbe’s most significant gift was being an incredible mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, with a smile and a laugh that could light up a room.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Edna Wilson, husband; Robert (Bob) Benton, sister; Dorothy Davisson, and son; Stephen (Steve) Benton. She is survived by her daughter; Terrye Morgan, grandson; Sean Benton, granddaughter; Stacie Benton, great-grandson; Benton Lee, several nieces and nephews, and multitudes of friends and loved ones. To have met Bobbe, was to love Bobbe. The family would like to acknowledge all the nurses that took such good care of her and returned the love that she showed them.
