BETTY ANN HERRIN
Betty Ann Herrin, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas went to be with her Savior and Lord on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House. She fought a very courageous battle with cancer for almost three years. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS, 66210. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS, 66212.
Betty was born September 26, 1921, in Harrisonville, Missouri, to John L. and Mary Helen Baum. She married William Herrin on June 6, 1942 and together they spent 68 wonderful years together. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, William J. Herrin and his wife, Faye. She is survived by her husband William H. Herrin of the home, her son Robert Herrin (Deanna) of Simi Valley, CA, her daughter, Carol Yasuhara of Overland Park, KS, her brother John Baum (Dixie) of Lenexa, KS, two grandsons, Don Herrin (Rosa) of Kansas City, KS, Bryan Chad Yasuhara (Alicia) of Hollywood, CA, four granddaughters; Melissa Jones (Kyle) of Shawnee, KS, Kelli Lambert (Todd) of Broken Arrow, OK, Ashlyn Perry (Dan) of Santa Fe, NM, and Dana Zalkauskas (Paul) of Encinitias, CA. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Evangelia and Elijah Lambert and several nephews and nieces and many special friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.
The immediate family would like to express a deep gratitude and thanks to all who touched Betty’s life and cared for her the last few weeks at the KC Hospice House. You were all truly “angels” to our family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the KC Hospice House at www.kansascityhospice.org or St. Luke’s Cancer Institute.
