Betty Jo Townsend, 85, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on June 19, 2024. Betty was born August 24th, 1938 to Howard and Eula Mae Greene. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1956.

On September 11th, 1959 she married Larry William Townsend. Betty spent most of her career at First National Bank in Kansas City, Missouri. But she considered her greatest accomplishment to be raising her two daughters.

During her retirement, she was active in various groups and organizations. Betty spent time volunteering as a docent at ZooTampa, served as president of the newcomers group, and was a bible-study leader for Community Bible Study. After Larry’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally. Both Betty and Larry are long-time members of Church of the Resurrection.

A private family service was held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 23rd. Burial followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.   Betty was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Eula Mae Greene. Survivors include her husband Larry Townsend, children Lindsay (Steve) Potratz and Leslie Huffman, grandchildren Tessa (Morgan) Greenewood, Caleb (Sadie) Huffman, Joshua (Jordyn) Potratz, Matthew Potratz, and great-grandchildren Romee and Sturgill Huffman.

She will forever be in our hearts!
