Charles Carlsen

Charles James Carlsen was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully passed away on October 26, 2022.

His 83 years on this earth were well spent. “Chuck” married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and over the course of 66 years together they served and supported numerous institutions, communities, charities, and individuals. The list of Chuck’s accomplishments and accolades is extensive, but as a career educator he would want to be especially remembered for his work as President of Johnson County Community College, Overland Park KS  (1981-2006) and President of Black Hawk College, Moline IL (1977-1981).

Chuck is survived by Linda and their daughter (Laura), son (Brian), daughter-in-law (Stephanie), grandchildren (Melissa, Conner, Charley, Jessie), his sister (Carolyn) and brother-in-law (Norm) and their extended family. Words cannot fully express how much they cherish memories of days spent with this amazing man – memories of joy, laughter, support and unconditional love freely and frequently expressed.

As a leader, mentor, coach and trusted friend, Chuck touched the lives of many people. Although memorial services will be limited to immediate family members, the family is grateful for the thoughts and prayers that will be sent their way.
