Charles Kuhlmann of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away of heart failure on July 8, 2026 at KC Hospice House. He was 91 years old. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday August 14th at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens (11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210). Charles was born on June 7, 1935 to Leslie & Elsie (Loesche) Kuhlmann in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he was raised with his younger brother, Louis. He went to college at the University of Missouri and obtained his bachelor’s degree. After college, he moved back to Saint Louis where he met the love of his life, Joeann Kuhlmann. They were married on May 18, 1963. Together they raised two sons and shared nearly 53 years of joy, laughter, and abiding love. Charles brought his family to Kansas City in 1968 to work in computers for a division of General Electric that later becoming Honeywell Bull. Charles was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, volunteering in multiple capacities including as a board member. Dad loved tennis, going out with his coffee group, and spending time with his family. He was a stabilizing presence to be around, and he never spoke ill of anyone. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his brother, his sons, Mike and David, and his grandchildren, Scarlett and Elliott.
