Chen Lui

Chen Lui was born in Changhai Xian, China. After marrying Chong Fa Wong in 1943, Chen graciously stayed at home to care for their four children, Frank, How, Kau Kwai, and Ling. In 1985, Chen and her family moved to the United States in pursuit of opening a restaurant and bringing Chinese cuisine to rural Kansas. Chen stayed at the front of the restaurant, where she was dearly known as “Mama” to all, forming friendships with any customer who walked through the restaurant doors. Chen spent over thirty years at the restaurant before retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren at home.

Chen, 95, passed away on November 6, 2021 in Lansing, Kansas.
