Claire W. Sunderland

Claire Whitney Sunderland, 38, passed away at St. Luke’s hospital on Friday, February 13 after suffering severe influenza and pneumonia. She was the daughter of Dr. Whitney and Kate Sunderland. Claire grew up in Leawood Kansas, attending Corinth Elementary, Mission Valley Middle School, and High School at the Barstow School. At Barstow she was an excellent student, starred in dramatics and was a talented artist. She received a scholarship at the Chicago Art Institute but was unable to attend due to health concerns. She continued to pursue her Art as an adult. She married Tom Harding in 2023 and he worked diligently in helping her to adapt to her medical problems.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Claire is survived by her loving sister Tess, Her 100 year old grandmother Jane West Adams, and by her aunts, uncles and cousins. Claire will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was a beautiful, intelligent, and talented young woman who was lost far too soon.
