Cleda M. Jones, 94, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007 at The Forum of Overland Park. survivor list, the name of her brother Leo (Corrine) Burnett.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 9:30 a.m. at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS 66208. Private inurnment will be preceding the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Village Presbyterian Church.

Cleda was born and raised in the Flint Hills of Kansas. She taught in two, one room schoolhouses in Eskridge, KS and Holton, KS. She married Charles D. Jones in 1935. They moved to Kansas City in 1936, where they started their heating and air conditioning business. Together they raised 5 children in Johnson County. They were active members of the Village Church. Though not charter members they joined shortly after it?s inception. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Scout Leader, and was one of the founders of the Village Church Art Program. She was President of Village Church Women?s Group, going on to be elected as State President of Church Women?s United (Interdenominational) for the state of Kansas in 1964. Cleda also was a founding board member of the Johnson County YMCA. She was an active member of Chapter GZ of PEO.

Preceding her in death were her parents; Sarah and Harry Burnett; husband of 50 years, Charley; her brother, Eldon Burnett; and infant grandchild, Kelli Diane White.

Left to cherish her memory are 5 children; Janice (Ray) Chesnik of Dawsonville, GA, Jackie (Duane) White of Prairie Village, KS, Chuck (Carol) Jones of Leawood, KS, Judy (Tom) Place of Leawood, KS, Tom (Toni) Jones of Denver, CO; 12 grandchilren; and 14 great-grandchildren, and brother, Leo (Corrine) Burnett.
