Clifford “Cliff” Burns Christian was born on January 12, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jacob John Christian and Ollie Victoria CBurns) Christian. He was the second of three children. Cliff went to Lindburg High School and was active in ROTC, graduating in 1960. He then attended Southern Missouri University, where he met Joel Schnieder. They married in 1962 and had three children together. Cliff held several jobs throughout his life. In 1969, the family moved to Kansas City, where Cliff learned the blueprinting trade and worked in it for more than 20 years.
Cliff’s greatest love was his wife and family. He supported his children and grandchildren by coaching and cheering at their baseball, basketball, and soccer games. He was a Boy Scout leader and also helped with Girl Scouts. Cliff attended many marching events, band concerts, and theater productions. Cliff never knew a stranger; he would help anyone who asked and always had a smile and a kind word. Over the years, Cliff participated in bowling leagues and was active in bass fishing, including BASS clubs and the BASS Association. He never tired of teaching or mentoring others.
He is survived by his children: Teresa (Zephry)Bingham; Steve (Ann Martin-Fischer); and Carol (Dave); grandchildren: Christina (Jacob)Brown, William (Grace)Bingham, Emile (Tyler)Kodanaz; Aryn J. Christian, Melody, Alex and Yvain and his sister, Linda (Steve) Markovits and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joel; his parents; and his brother, John Jacob Christian.
Services will be at Johnson County Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be at 1:30 with service for BOTH Cliff and Joel Christian at 2, and internment to follow.
In Lieu of flowers, the family would ask for donations to ASCEND HOSPICE, 783 NE Anderson Lane, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064, or donate your time to serve others.
