Craig Allen Bruntz, 67, died June 20, 2024, from ALS at home in his sleep. He was born September 21, 1956, in Great Bend, Kansas and grew up in Bazine, Kansas. He was the son of Sam and Esther (Shoenhals) Bruntz. He married Beverly (Petz) June 19, 1982, in Wichita, Kansas.
He graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He worked as a software engineer at the KC Star newspaper for 25 years. After that he worked at Jack Henry and Associates for 7 years until his passing. He enjoyed taking cruises and boating, was an avid bowler, had a love for antique John Deere tractors, which he inherited from his father and spending time with his grandson Jaden, on the golf course. Survivors include his wife, Beverly of 42 years, 2 stepdaughters: Kimberley Gallagher and husband Bill, Loveland, Colorado and Kelley Woodward, Hampton, Nebraska;1 grandson, Jaden Woodward, Gardner, Kansas; 2 brothers, Kent Bruntz, Mulvane, Kansas, Rod Bruntz and wife Patty, Valley Center, Kansas and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Esther Bruntz and 1 brother, Lyle Bruntz and wife Del.
A memorial will be at 1:00pm on July 12, 2024, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial donations to the ALS Foundation in lieu of flowers.
