Curtis Gene Johnson

November 6, 1949 — September 17, 2025

Independence

Curtis Gene Johnson age 75, passed on Wednesday September 17, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded with his loving family. Curtis was born on November 06, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri to Marshall Jr. and Samella (Hays) Johnson. He was the oldest of two sons from this union (Michael T. Johnson). Curtis graduated from Lincoln High School in KCMO, and he worked for Hallmark Cards for ten years, but he made his career working for Luther Florist for over 40 years where he retired.

Curtis was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and had attended the Linwood and Glendale Park Congregation. He enjoyed sharing the Bible with people and attending the meetings. He wished that he had served Jehovah more when he had his good health. He did put in much effort at the end. Curtis was married to Fredella (Harris) Johnson for 54 years and out of that union they had three sons Sean, Juan and Andre. Curtis was a very caring person sometimes he would give, even without thinking about it first. He helped take the lead in making sure we had our family reunions. He loved watching sports, music, playing pool, dominoes, He also loved arts & crafts and playing bid whist with auntie Marry. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. For 9 years Curtis dealt with his failing health issues in and out of the hospitals, one surgery after another and even though he was going through pain he would never let us know. Even in his last few days we could tell he was in pain but when we would ask him, he would say no he's good. Now we know he is truly good, because he's now resting with his mother and father in a nice peaceful sleep waiting on Jehovah's greater hope of a resurrection. (And no resident will say, I am sick. The people dwelling it the land will be pardoned for their error. Isaiah 33: 24 jw.org).

Curtis leaves to cherish his memory his lovely wife Fredella Johnson. Sons: Sean (Kelshie Johnson), Juan (Melissa Johnson) and Andre Johnson. Brother: Michael T. Johnson (Charlotte Johnson). His only Niece: Sierra Johnson. Grandsons: Juan Johnson Jr. &. Marlon Johnson. Granddaughters: Seannitta Johnson and Seantierra Johnson. Brothers: Terry Johnson, Marcel Johnson, Michael A Johnson, William Johnson and Evelyn Johnson. And a host of great grandchildren, cousins and friends.

The family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness that have been shown to them in this time of bereavement. Jehovah is truly good!
