Cynthia Jones, 49, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
She was born on September 22, 1964 to Robert and Sally McHenry in Independence, MO. She grew up and attended schools in Independence. Cynthia continued her education at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, where she received her bachelor in Education. She also went on to complete her Master Degree in Education from Webster University.
Cynthia taught in the Independence, MO school district for 27 years, all at Sycamore Hills Elementary and taught both 3rd and 2nd grade and most recently Kindergarten.
On August 8, 1987 she married Brett Jones. They made their home in Overland Park, KS.
She was very involved in all of her children’s activities and was an avid sport fan; whether it was one her children’s sporting events or an opportunity to attend a Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas City Royals or Kansas City Chiefs game. In addition to sports, Cynthia enjoyed shopping, visiting the zoo and spending as much time as she could with friends and family.
She loved being with her family more than anything.
She is preceded in death by her mother Sally McHenry.
She is survived by her husband, Brett Jones; three children, Kristen, Cady and Bryan Jones; father, Robert McHenry; grandson, Braxton Wells; sister Cathy Bien and brother Michael McHenry; four nieces and two nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11AM on September 27, 2014 at The United Methodist Church of The Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224. Family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
