Dortha Mae Hargadine (Emery) of Prairie Village, KS went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 25, 2026.
Dortha was born in Parsons Ks, April 16, 1930. She attended school in Coffeyville KS. She attended Parsons KS Jr. College and JCCC. in Lenexa, KS
In 1951 Dortha married Doyle Hargadine, the love of her life and they enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. She assisted him with his business in Future Homes, a cookware business and their later endeavor Financial Analysis, Inc (insurance) and real estate properties. They enjoyed global traveling, dancing, board games and attending Bible studies together.
Dortha was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church for 69 years. She served as an Elder, Deacon and several offices, a Sunday school teacher, Care and Counseling, Stephens Ministry and was honored with a life-time membership in Presbyterian Women.
Dortha was very active in various volunteer activities, tutoring children, arranging home visits for Fulbright Scholars, AFS students and international visitors. Dortha also served as a Hospice volunteer. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved helping people. Dortha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. She loved using her humor, generosity of time given to others through volunteerism and care giving. The family thanks all who loved her and cared for her.
Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle and her parents, Meredith and Dottie (Oliver) Emery and brothers, Meredith Rex and Raymond Emery, sister Lee Wanda Cooke, and brother-in-law, Gene Cooke.
She is survived by her son, Mark Hargadine (Becky) Overland Park, Ks, daughter, Kim Doyle, Sparks NV, three grandchildren, Penny Samantha Doyle, Jennifer Armstrong (Doug), Travis Hargadine (Jenny), a step granddaughter, Stephanie McReynolds (Terry), eight great grandchildren, and a special friend, Gary Fullbright.
Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:45 March 31st and Funeral Services at 1:00 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel,11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Village Presbyterian Church 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village 66208 or Doctors Without Borders
