Edward Dudley McElvain, Jr.

Edward Dudley McElvain, Jr., Overland Park, Kansas passed away July 11, 2026 with his wife Catherine at his bedside.

Dudley was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1938, an only child to Sybil and Edward McElvain. The family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma when he was three years old. After High School graduation he attended Kansas University where he graduated in 1961 with a BS in Business and was Salutatorian of his class. He then worked at the Bank at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They then moved to Kansas City where he was President of several Banks during his Banking career. He was President of Cereal Foods a couple of years and then retired. During retirement, he worked at Eddie Bauers, and then at Enterprise Car Rental.

Dudley enjoyed KU Basketball and Football, golf, hunting quail, reading Clancy, Flynn, and Patterson books, driving Corvettes and his last two Chevy Cameros. When life slowed down, he loved watering the plants and watching the birds and visiting with the residents in the Tuileries HOA Garden Park. He lived for almost forty-two years in the HOA where he will be missed.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Jean Bowden McElvain, who has six children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and an adopted daughter from a previous marriage; Carrie Elizabeth Leder McElvain.
