Eugene Fryatt

Eugene W. Fryatt, 85, died of natural causes March 10, 2021 at Sharon Lane Health and Rehabilitation.  He was born July 25, 1935 in Kansas City, KS.  He was the son of William O. Fryatt and Madeline M. Bunce.

Gene graduated from Piper High School.  He married Carol Holmes and they had four children.  Then he married Darleen M. Kracht Thomas in 1970, blending their families of 8 children.  He worked for Gas Service Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1992. Gene was a longtime member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Kansas City, KS.

He, like his brother, Bob, enjoyed hunting golf balls for exercise.  He loved horses and horse racing and enjoyed going to the casino.  He was also a sports fan, enjoying the Royals and Chiefs.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert (Bob).  Also predeceased were Stepchildren Roger “Rocky” Thomas, Becky Carpenter, and Tammy Evans.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darleen Fryatt, residing at Sharon Lane, Shawnee; His four children; Debby Shockley of Westwood, KS, Bud (Lorie) Fryatt of Cameron, MO, David (Cheryl) Fryatt of Louisburg, KS, Lori (Roger) Schmitz of Overland Park, KS, Stepdaughter Penny (Steve) Schlie, KC, MO.  He also leaves two half-brothers: Preston Fryatt of St. Louis, MO, Nolan Fryatt of Lee’s Summit, MO, 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

A Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 13 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park KS with burial following at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  No flowers, please.
